How many times have we paused, hesitated, self-corrected because we're afraid we're wrong? Or we're afraid that our words will be misunderstood? Or our meaning misconstrued? Or that we will overstep? Or that we don't have the authority, expertise or experience to talk about something. I do it all the time. Let’s stop doing it so we can keep moving forward. Here’s how.
Oh yes, there will be some days that you definitely got this. There's a blissed-out flow to your work, you ate well and your body felt like that of your eighteen year old self. But many days are worn around the edges like old construction paper.
Clients and patients come back when they trust us. They show up (early even!) for appointments when there is trust. They follow recommendations and ask for suggestions, when there is trust. For clients with a trauma history, trust is everything. When you take steps to trauma-sensitize your practice, you are building trust with people who really need it.
