A snack would help

I don't know about you but I try to push through something when I should really just stop. I've gotten better about this by reminding myself that it's capitalism whispering, "produce, produce," in my ear. Stopping is a "f*ck you," to it. But I'm still learning and sometimes I keep pushing.

What has helped is reminding myself that things might go more smoothly if I took a break...

  • and had some nuts.

  • or some brie and crackers.

  • or Pistachio Crunch nut butter on a banana

  • or lay flat on my back in bed for a few minutes

  • or did some chest flies or curled into puppy pose.

  • or picked up my newest library borrow or puzzled over a new jigsaw.

It sometimes feels easier for our brain to stop something if we replace it with something else.

Swap efforting for ease. Jaw tingling for sweet. Whatever you choose, the idea is to break before you break. Before your breaking point. Before the point breaks.

It's not a giving up; it's knowing when you've had enough and caring for yourself enough to take a break.

Struggling to find words for a boundary?

Or to finish the thing you just started?

Maybe you're tired, cranky, feeling weak or head-achy.

I bet a snack would help.
