Trauma never really goes away. It comes back at different points in our life through two channels: vulnerable times and triggers. A “vulnerable time” is a non-everyday event including yes, a pandemic like Covid-19.
The idea of always moving, of never waiting, isn't the best anthem. Sometimes waiting has value. Now is one of those times.
Closure is a cousin of perfection. Unattainable, in part, because the goal posts keep moving. And try as we might, we can't effort our way into it. We can’t effort our way to closure because the control we have over our feelings and outcomes is limited. But we can do something else instead.
