All in Survivors
With 1 in 6 women experiencing rape or attempted rape in their life and more like 1 in 4 experiencing some form of sexual abuse (contact and non-contact) a woman "giving in" sexually seldom means what the man (or woman) "scoring" thinks it means.
Starting September 13, I will lead a peer-led support group for female-identified sexual abuse survivors. It is open to any sexual trauma survivor. That includes incest survivors, rape survivors, child sexual abuse survivors and survivors of sexual violence within and intimate partner relationship.
Everyone is a trauma survivor, whether or not they have a diagnosis. Everyone is a trauma survivor, even if they never mention the incident. When you assume past trauma about the person in front of you, you are in a better position to meet that person where she is at, instead of where you think she should be.
